Uncover the Wonders Beneath the Ocean Paradise of Finolhu Baa Atoll
Nestled in the heart of the Maldives’ only UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the marine world surrounding Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives offers an unforgettable escape into one of the most vibrant marine ecosystems on Earth.
Located within the renowned Baa Atoll, Finolhu is just a short speedboat ride from the legendary Hanifaru Bay—world-famous from May to November as a gathering place for majestic manta rays, drawn to its plankton-rich waters.
From the surrounding coral reefs and lush seagrass meadows to its breathtaking, untouched sandbanks, Finolhu is a true sanctuary for marine life. The island’s 2.5-kilometre house reef encircles Finolhu with a vibrant underwater world teeming with life.
Whether you’re exploring the calm lagoon for the first time or venturing to the reef’s edge as an experienced diver, every moment beneath the surface offers the chance to encounter nature at its most spectacular. Discover sea turtles, colourful schools of tropical fish, lobsters, octopuses, moray eels, eagle rays, and, with a little luck, even majestic manta rays or reef sharks.
The magic doesn’t end at the reef. Finolhu’s crystal-clear lagoons are home to thriving seagrass meadows—vital ecosystems that produce oxygen, serve as nurseries for marine life, and attract one of our most beloved residents: the green sea turtle.
The two turtle species most commonly spotted around Finolhu are the hawksbill turtle and the green sea turtle. Thanks to our flourishing seagrass meadows and pristine sandbanks, female turtles regularly come ashore to nest. Since 2017, we have proudly recorded 66 sea turtle nests—an inspiring testament to the rich biodiversity that makes Finolhu its home.
At Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives, you don’t just visit the Maldives—you immerse yourself in a vibrant and thriving marine sanctuary. Dive in and experience the magic of the underwater world firsthand, from colourful coral gardens to unforgettable encounters with extraordinary marine life.
